Skier/Athlete

SIGN-UPS BEGIN 10 AM APRIL 1ST, 2023

We are so excited to have you come out and water ski!  It is an incredible event and a life changing experience.  We believe everyone can be successful with adaptations to water sports!  Becoming an adaptive water skier or wake boarder begins with an intake assessment to gauge your abilities. The primary requirement for anyone is to be water safe, meaning that you can demonstrate that you can go from a face down position in the water to a face up position and signal OK while wearing a personal flotation device(life jacket).

Participants must pre-register for our ski clinics and sign-ups will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.  We recommend that you register early as space is limited.  There is no cost for the event. However, donations are welcome and tax deductible; checks should be made out to MDWSA.  Lunch will be provided, so come early if you are in the afternoon group and plan on hanging around if you are in the morning group for food and fellowship!

Once you register, you will receive a confirmation e-mail.  You will also receive a reminder e-mail three days prior to the event and another e-mail one day prior to the event.  If you register and find that you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as you can.  If you have any questions, contact the chair person for the specific of your inquiry.

As a participant, you must be approximately one year post-injury and in good health (not counting your disability). This means that you have no open wounds, recent operations, or anything that may be contraindicated by the water.

Understand that you will be towed behind a boat or watercraft at speed up to 25 MPH.  Should you fall, your body must be able to sustain the impact of hitting the water at these speeds. If you think the impact may cause you pain or injury, please consult your physician before attempting to water ski.  See our Intake Assessment for more information.

Want to be one of our Athletes? FANTASTIC!  We will work with you, in a safe environment, and help you experience the thrill of water skiing, boat riding, riding on a jet ski and/or riding on the inner tube.
